Last updated 24 October 2026
Who we are
Honda Repairs, Ireland (“we”, “us”), is the controller of the personal data described here. This policy covers this website, our online parts shop and our workshop services.
For anything about your personal data, email Email us or call 087 433 9953. Our postal address is on our contact page.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Account: name, email, country, password (stored securely hashed, never in plain text), two-factor settings | To run your account, let you order online, and show you your quotes, job sheets and jobs | Contract |
| Orders: delivery address, phone, parts ordered, payment method, delivery and tracking details, order history | To process, deliver and support your orders | Contract |
| Workshop records: name and contact details; vehicle make, model, year, registration, VIN and mileage; quotes, workshop jobs, job sheets, work carried out, and work we've advised for the future | To quote for, carry out and keep a history of work on your vehicle, and to remind you of advised work if you'd like us to | Contract / legitimate interests |
| Payments: amounts, dates, method and reference for payments, deposits and refunds. We don't take card details on this website. | To keep accurate accounts and know what's been paid | Contract / legal obligation |
| Enquiries: quote, booking, contact, part sourcing, fit check and shipping-price requests, including vehicle details and any photos you attach | To reply to you, find parts, check fitment and arrange work | Steps you've asked us to take before a contract / legitimate interests |
| Returns: the order and parts concerned, reason, description, photos, inspection outcome, and refund details | To handle cancellations, returns, refunds and replacements | Contract / legal obligation |
| Communications: emails we send you, and short notes of phone calls, WhatsApp messages and conversations in person (for example, when you approve extra work) | To keep a reliable record of what was agreed and to follow up | Contract / legitimate interests |
| Security: sign-in records, IP address and device information in security logs, spam checks on forms | To keep accounts and the site secure, and to prevent fraud and spam | Legitimate interests |
| Analytics with cookies (only if you accept analytics cookies): pages visited, how you arrived, approximate location, device type, and events such as sending an enquiry or placing an order | To understand how the site is used and improve it | Consent |
| Cookie-free analytics signals (if you haven't accepted analytics cookies): that a page was viewed or an event happened, with your browser type and approximate location. Nothing is stored on your device, and these can't be linked to you or to your other visits. | To estimate overall visitor numbers | Legitimate interests |
Most of this comes from you. Sometimes it comes from someone else, for example a family member who books your car in, or a courier's tracking updates.
We don't use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. The only automatic step is that unpaid orders are cancelled after our reminders.
We don't send marketing emails. If we ever want to, we'll ask for your permission first.
Private quote and job sheet links
We send quotes and job sheets as private links that can't be guessed. Search engines don't list them, and the preview shown when a link is shared in a messaging app only shows the reference, never your details or prices. Anyone you send the link to can view the document, so please only share it with people you trust. If you've shared one by mistake, tell us.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only where it's needed:
- Parts suppliers and couriers receive your name, delivery address and phone number so your order can be delivered. Some suppliers are outside the EU (for example in Japan or China), so your delivery details may be transferred there for that purpose.
- Specialist partners, such as engine machining, paint or ECU tuning partners, receive the vehicle details they need when your job uses them. We'll tell you when a partner is involved.
- Our website host and email provider store and send data on our behalf, under contract.
- Google provides reCAPTCHA spam protection on our forms and Google Analytics. Analytics cookies and the map on our contact page are only used if you consent; otherwise Google Analytics only receives cookie-free signals (see above). We've turned off Google's advertising features and signals.
- WhatsApp (Meta) processes your messages if you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
- Your bank or Revolut handles payments you make to us, under their own terms.
- Our accountant, insurers and professional advisers, where needed to run the business or deal with a claim.
- Authorities such as Revenue or An Garda Síochána, where the law requires it.
Where data goes outside the EEA, we rely on the safeguards available under GDPR, such as an adequacy decision (for example, for the UK, Japan, or US companies in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework), standard contractual clauses, or the transfer being necessary to fulfil your order.
How long we keep it
- Orders, payments, job sheets and accounting records: 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax.
- Workshop and vehicle history: up to 6 years after your last job with us, so we can stand over our work and answer any claim. Ask us if you'd like it deleted sooner, where we don't have to keep it.
- Enquiries that didn't go ahead: up to 2 years after our last contact.
- Returns: as for the order they relate to.
- Communications records: as long as the order, job or enquiry they relate to.
- Accounts: until you ask us to close your account. Order and workshop records are then kept as above.
- Security logs: up to 12 months.
- Analytics: Google keeps analytics data for up to 14 months.
How we protect it
The site uses HTTPS throughout. Passwords are stored as secure hashes. Two-factor authentication is available for accounts. Access to customer records is limited to staff who need it, by role. If a data breach is likely to put you at risk, we'll tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- have it corrected if it's wrong
- have it deleted, where we don't need to keep it (for example, for tax)
- restrict or object to how we use it, including use based on legitimate interests
- receive the data you gave us in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, for example by changing your cookie settings
To use any of these rights, email Email us. We'll reply within one month. We may need to check your identity first. It's free, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Cookies
See our cookie policy for the cookies we use and how to change your choice.
Changes
We'll update this page if how we use personal data changes, and change the date at the top. If a change significantly affects you, we'll let you know.
